It was not a bad way to get your big league career started. In a matchup between two playoff teams, Hopkinsville High School grad Easton McGee made his Major League Baseball debut Sunday for the Tampa Bay Rays.

McGee entered the Rays game in Houston in the bottom of the 6th inning. He would pitch the final three innings for the Rays.

In three innings of work, McGee gave up one unearned run on four hits. He walked none and struck out one.

The only downside for McGee was that the Rays could not come from behind to pick up a win in his debut. Houston would not surrender the lead they had when McGee entered the contest, picking up a 3-1 win.

McGee got the call to come up from Durham late Wednesday night and joined the Rays in Cleveland on Thursday. He had been with the Triple A Bulls since the beginning of the season.
