County Picks Up Four Set District Win at Hoptown (w/PHOTOS)

The Christian County Lady Colonels firmed up their position as the number two seed for the 8th District volleyball tournament Tuesday night. The Lady Colonels traveled across town and came away with a four-set win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.

Christian County got the night off to a good start with a 25-16 win in the opening set to go up one set to none.

An improving Hopkinsville team rebounded to claim the second set 25-19, evening the match at one set each.

The Lady Colonels took the third set 25-19 to go back in front two sets to one.

The fourth set was a tight battle, with Christian County eventually claiming the set 25-21 to take the match three sets to one.

A huge night for Christian County’s Hailey Sparks, who ended the match with 24 kills. Peyton Owens added 30 assists for the Lady Colonels. Rylee Owens came up with 15 digs for the match.

Ajayla Shiraef led the Hopkinsville effort with 11 kills. Rilee Joiner added 11 assists for the night. Addyson Fortin had a solid stat line with 2 kills, 3 blocks, and 2 digs.

Christian County improves to 8-21 with the win. They will host Trigg County Thursday night.

Hopkinsville falls to 3-21 for the year. They wrap up district play Thursday night on the road at Fort Campbell.
