Lady Maroons Wrap Up Top Seed at Caldwell

Madisonville-North Hopkins secured the No. 1 seed for the 7th District volleyball tournament by sweeping three sets at Caldwell County on Tuesday.

Caldwell will be the No. 2 seed when it hosts the district tournament in two weeks at the CAB gym in Princeton.

The Lady Tigers kept the first two sets close on Tuesday before the Lady Maroons pulled away late.

Caldwell (12-15 overall, 2-2 district) was within 17-16 late in the first set. But Madisonville (24-10, 3-0) turned things around following a timeout, scoring the final eight points of the set, 25-16.

The Lady Tigers were within 18-16 in the second set before Madisonville rolled off four straight points and went on to win 25-19.

The Lady Maroons then finished off the match with a 25-11 decision.

Kendrea White had 18 kills, a block and 16 digs for Madisonville while Kaitlyn Orange had 16 kills, two blocks and 18 digs.

Amya King added 32 assists with two kills and 10 digs while Arian Gregory had a team-high 21 digs.

Caldwell got five kills from Benashka Thomas while Katie Menser had four kills, a block and six digs. Ellie Ramey had four kills and five digs.

Kyndra Winters recorded 17 assists and 11 digs. Rylee Thompson had two kills and seven digs.

Claire Knoth had a team-high 13 digs for the Lady Tigers.

Madisonville has taken its last four matches against Caldwell.

The Lady Maroons will next host Hopkins County Central on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers are off until next Tuesday when they will entertain Calloway County for Senior Night.
