Just days after he made his major league debut for the Tampa Bay Rays, former Hopkinsville Tiger Easton McGee has a new Major League Baseball home. The Boston Red Sox claimed McGee off waivers Wednesday, swiping him away from the Rays, who the Red Sox played Wednesday in the two teams final game of the regular season.
In his one appearance for Tampa, McGee went three innings, giving up one unearned run, on four hits, while striking out one and walking none.
McGee had spent most of the season with the Rays Triple A affiliate in Durham.
McGee was 6-9 in Durham with a 5.43 ERA. He did have an 82-to-20 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 107 2/3 innings with the Bulls this season.
