After a rough start on Friday at the KHSAA State Golf Championship, Hopkinsville sophomore Cate Blane finished strong to sit in a tie for 17th ahead of her final round on Saturday at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Blane began on the back nine and opened with a par on the 10th hole, but bogeyed seven of the next eight to make the turn with a 7-over 43.
A double-bogey on number 1 deepened the hole, but she bounced back with a birdie on the par-5 number two and parred the next two before an eagle on the par-5 5th hole.
She gave a couple of strokes back with a double-bogey on six but settled down to finish with three straight pars for a 1-over 37 over the final nine holes.
Blane finished with an 8-over 80, eight strokes back of Marshall County’s Trinity Beth in 1st place. She will wrap up the tournament with an 8:50 tee time on Saturday.
