Sarah Sink excels at competition in both athletics and academics as she makes a run through her senior year at Trigg County High School.

Sarah just concluded a season in soccer that saw her named to the all-district team and was part of Trigg’s 16-win season that saw them advance to the region championship game for the first time in school history.

Off the field, Sarah is active throughout the school year in both FFA and 4-H where she garners victories as well.

Earlier this year, Sarah won first place in the Trigg County 4-H Outstanding Youth Contest and was named the Outstanding 4-H member.

She has placed and won the county’s 4-H ham contest in the past and placed in the Kentucky State FFA Creed speaking contest that was made virtual for the first time in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Sarah excels at public speaking in FFA where she has to memorize a speech and turn it into an eight-minute presentation.

In addition to 4-H and FFA, Sarah is active in the school’s Technology Student Association club because she sees herself in the agricultural engineering field.

“It’s a broad industry and covers a lot so I’ll be looking to narrow that down,” she said.

Sarah is also proficient in raising pigs and curing country hams where she has won the county 4-H contest held during the Ham Festival.

It’s a busy schedule that has Sarah culling one sport for her senior year – basketball.

“It was a hard decision but between FFA, 4-H, and taking dual credit classes, I would like to focus on those,” she said.

Despite her busy schedule, Sarah maintains a 3.8 GPA and would like to follow in the footsteps of her older sister Grace, who also excelled in 4-H and FFA as a member of the TCHS Class of 2018. She is now an agriculture teacher at Graves County High School.

“I ask her for advice all the time. She was in FFA and did a lot of the same competitions so she gives me advice on agriculture, sports, and life,” Sarah said.

The main piece of advice Grace gives her little sister?

“Don’t stress,” Sarah said.

Given how Sarah handles herself on the soccer field and in competitions, it’s usually her opponents that will be doing the stressing when she competes.

  1. I am so proud of my granddaughter’s many accomplishments and what a wonderful person she is. Her grandfather would have loved seeing her grow into such a beautiful talented young woman as would, Dave , her step grandfather.
