The UHA volleyball team made quick work of Hopkinsville in Tuesday’s 8th-District semifinal at Fort Campbell, sweeping past the Lady Tigers 3-0 and into Thursday’s title match vs. Christian County.
The Lady Blazers are undefeated against district competition this season, and a third victory over the Lady Colonels would give UHA a fifth straight district championship.
Julia Thomas led the Lady Blazers with 17 kills, including four in a 25-11 victory in the 1st set.
Thomas had six more kills in the 2nd, and UHA raced out to a 16-4 advantage on the way to a 13-point win.
The Lady Blazers led 12-6 in the 3rd before four straight aces by Olivia Oakley built the lead to double digits. They finished off the match with a 25-11 victory, sending the Lady Tigers to their third consecutive straight-set defeat.
Sarah Peebles finished with 28 assists for UHA, Oakley had six kills, and Claire Chewning added four.
UHA improved to 24-12 with its third win in a row. Hopkinsville ends the season at 3-24.
