111 points is as close as it gets to double of 56. The 111 points are how many Kentucky basketball scored in Thursday night’s exhibition win over Kentucky State, 111-53. The 56 points were how many the Wildcats scored in Sunday night’s exhibition win over Missouri Western State.

Yes, the games were played for the same amount of time and Kentucky actually was missing more bodies in Thursday’s game than they were on Sunday. The Wildcats simply played much more efficiently on offense and crashed the boards on every possession to lead to better scoring opportunities.

Thursday night was the finale of preseason action as the team will now wait a few days for their regular season to begin. Kentucky hasn’t had many of these preseason opportunities to play with both Oscar Tshiebwe and Sahvir Wheeler on the floor together, as both have dealt with injuries for multiple scrimmages and/or exhibition games. However, the reigning national player of the year and last year’s starting point guard shouldn’t have much trouble sliding back in to the lineup when they’re healthy.

Kentucky will host Howard on Monday at Rupp Arena to begin the regular season, but Tshiebwe will all but certainly miss the team’s first two games (leading up to Michigan State) and Wheeler’s status moving forward is still up in the air.

Tip-off for Monday’s game vs. Howard is set for 6:30 PM ET. Check out Vicky Graff’s photos from Thursday night’s blowout below.
