The stay in Beantown was not a long one for former Hopkinsville Tiger Easton McGee. Now, he is headed to the other side of the country and a playoff team.

It was announced Wednesday that the Boston Red Sox had traded the right-hander to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for cash.

McGee had been designated for assignment by the Tampa Bay Rays on October 3 and then picked up by the Red Sox two days later.

He drafted by Tampa and been with the Rays organization since 2016 working his way up through the ranks and making his major league debut this season for Tampa Bay in a game against the world champion Houston Astros.

McGee was one of two pitchers acquired by the Mariners Thursday.
