Lady Rebels Rout Montgomery Central to Move to 2-0 (w/PHOTOS)

The Todd County Central girls’ basketball team moved to 2-0 for only the second time in a decade with a 59-32 victory over visiting Montgomery Central, TN on Tuesday.

The Lady Rebels put the game away early, racing out to a 17-2 advantage and leading 25-6 after Leah Glenn drilled a three-pointer in the final seconds of the first quarter.

Jamaia Burks posted seven points in the opening frame, followed by Jamaya Kay and Abby Williams with six each.

Todd Central continued to build the lead going into halftime, taking a 21-point cushion into the break.

Alexis Taylor got going with seven points in the third quarter, and the Lady Rebels stretched the margin to 31 points with a quarter to play.

Kay scored seven of Todd Central’s nine points in the fourth, including a layup inside the final minute for the last basket of the game.

Sarah Rankhorn was a bright spot for Montgomery Central, scoring 16 of her game-high 22 points in the second half.

Kay led Todd Central with 15, Burks finished with 14, Taylor scored 11, and Williams also reached double figures with ten.

The Lady Rebels will look to move to 3-0 for the first time since beginning the 2012-13 season with four straight wins when they travel to McLean County on Friday.
