4th Quarter Comeback Sends Trigg Girls Past Murray

12-1-rogers

Olivia Noffsinger poured in 29 points and the Trigg County Lady Wildcats used a 4th-quarter rally to knock off hosts Murray High 48-42 on Thursday.

The victory is Trigg’s second straight over the Lady Tigers since the series renewed last season.  Murray won six of seven against the Lady Wildcats from 1999 to 2007. It’s the first time Trigg has won consecutive games over Murray since 1983-84.

Noffsinger had eight of the Lady Wildcats’ ten 1st-quarter points, and they led by three after one.  Noffsinger knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the 2nd quarter to help Trigg to a 19-15 halftime advantage.

However, Murray answered with eight points from Alyssa Daughrity in the 3rd to outscore the Lady Wildcats 15-8 and nudge in front 30-27.  Noffsinger accounted for all but one point in the frame for Trigg.

The Lady Wildcats fueled their comeback at the free-throw line, knocking down 11 of 18 attempts, including five of eight for Noffsinger.  Evonna McGee and Landi Rogers were both three for four, and Audrey Alexander chipped in four points over the final eight minutes.

Murray also had opportunities at the line, but could only connect on five of ten attempts.  The Lady Tigers finished the game 14/28 from the charity stripe.

Trigg evened its record at 1-1 with a trip to Caldwell County coming up on Saturday.  Murray High slipped to 1-1.
