A night after a historic win over Marshall County on Thursday, the Lyon County girls’ basketball team moved to 2-1 with an 80-35 victory over visiting University Heights Academy.
After going down to the wire against the Lady Marshals, the Lady Lyons put UHA away early. They led 14-4 after a layup by Lexi Holland and closed the first quarter with a three-pointer and a bucket in transition from Piper Cotham to build a 14-point cushion.
Lyon opened the second quarter on a 10-3 run capped by an Ella DeFew layup and took a 45-20 advantage into the halftime break. Alecia Davis scored 12 of the Lady Blazers’ first-half points.
Cotham posted ten third-quarter points to finish with a game-high 18, including four three-pointers. The Lady Lyons triggered the running clock with just over two minutes to play in the frame and a 61-25 score.
Lyon County put nine players in the scorebook, with Courtney Collins and Ella DeFew joining Cotham in double figures. Davis led the Lady Blazers with 16.
UHA slips to 0-2 and will head to Grayson County on Saturday. The Lady Lyons are off until Tuesday when they welcome Livingston Central to Eddyville.
