Lyon County junior Travis Perry made a big move up the Kentucky high school scoring list Thursday night. Perry hit for 36 points as the Lyons routed South Warren 94-65 in the Marshall County Hoopfest.

With his 36 points, Perry jumped five spots on the state’s all-time scoring list. His performance against South Warren moved him past:

3,233 – Fred Hale (Williamstown) – 1969-73
3,228 – Ervin Stepp (Phelps) – 1977-80
3,226 – Manual Forrest (Moore) – 1977-81
3,222 – Todd Conley (Elkhorn City) – 1991-94
3,219 – Nelson White (Powell County) – 1951-55

According to the list on the KHSAA site, Perry’s total  would now put him 11th in the state in all-time scoring with 3249. Up next for him to pass is current WKU player Dontaie Allen, who had 3255 points in his career.

Perry could pass Allen Saturday when the Lyons take on Mason County.

Once Perry passes Allen, the official passing of the ‘Lyon County baton’ will be on the list, as former Lyon Ty Rogers holds the #9 spot on the list, and the top spot in Lyon County history with 3,300 points.

That moment in history will likely occur on the Lyons home floor as the Lyons return from Jackson County for three straight home games against Livingston Central, Crittenden County, and Christian County.
