Wildcats Roll to 41-Point Road Win

Trigg County moved to 2-0 with a 91-50 win at Clarksville Christian Friday, their second of three games in three days to start the basketball season.

Just as they did in Thursday’s win over Heritage Christian Academy, Trigg got off to a strong start. Thursday it was a 15-0 start. Friday it was a 6-0 start.

Landon Stewart came off the bench to score 23 points and hit four 3-pointers. The junior guard scored seven points in a 13-2 Trigg run to end the first quarter and extend the Wildcat lead to 23-12.

The Wildcats outscored Clarksville Christian 39-18 in the second quarter. They hit 14 of 25 shots from the field and scored 13 points off seven Centurion turnovers.

Trigg County built its lead as large as 42 points – 88-46 in the fourth quarter.

Stewart’s 23-point output was one of four in double figures for Trigg County. Jerimyah Shearer had 17 points and 7 assists. Luke Washer had his second straight double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Jhaden Vaughn had 15 points and seven rebounds.

Trigg County shot 49-percent from the floor and hit nine 3-pointers. They also knocked down 22 of 30 free throws.

Clarksville Christian didn’t shoot poorly in the 41-point loss – 46-percent – but had 26 turnovers that Trigg County converted into 31 points.

Cannon Prather and Brody Cardwell each scored 18 points for Clarksville Christian (0-5), who beat Trigg County 63-56 last year.

Trigg County will play at Caldwell County Saturday night.
