The Heritage Christian Academy boys’ basketball team picked up its first KHSAA victory of the season on Tuesday, using a big fourth quarter to pull away from hosts Christian Fellowship 73-57.
The Warriors had their hands full with CFS’ Andrew Dunning early on. He posted 13 first-quarter points but would manage only two the rest of the game.
HCA’s Carlos Robles scored six points and Camden Higgins added five to send the game to the second quarter tied at 19-19.
Elijah Griggs posted six points in the second for the Eagles, but the Warriors had six players score in the frame to lead 33-32 at the halftime break.
Robles and Jason Leek combined for 11 of the Warriors’ 15 points in the third, and they added three points to the cushion with a quarter to play.
It was all Warriors in the fourth, with Robles tossing in eight points and Leek scoring six to help outscore Christian Fellowship 25-13.
Elijah Grigg led all scorers with 23, followed for CFS by Dunning with 15, and Brady Fletcher with ten.
Robles’ 21 points and 11 rebounds paced the Warriors. Leek finished with 17 points, Trentin Fowler scored 10, and Manny Diaz went for eight and eight.
Up next for HCA is a matchup with McLean County on Saturday at the Maroons Shootout in Madisonville.
