UK signee Aaron Bradshaw has rare skills for a 7-footer

Aaron Bradshaw, second from left, already has UK assistant coach Chin Coleman excited about next year.

What excites Kentucky assistant coach Chin Coleman the  most about Kentucky’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class?

That was the question posed to him recently on “BBN Tonight” on WLEX-TV and the UK assistant did not hesitate on his answer. He picked Aaron Bradshaw and called him an “avatar” for what he can do.

“He is 7-1 and can dribble, pass, shoot. That is where the game is going,” Coleman said on the show.

He’s right. The best players in the NBA now are mainly long, athletic players who can handle the ball like a point guard and shoot like Steph Curry from 3-point range.

“At the next level, guys like him who can shoot, dribble, pass… He is unique in his own way,” Coleman said.

How unique?

“You don’t get many 7-footers with the skill set he has,” Coleman said. “Guards are guards and our three guards (Rob Dillingham, DJ Wagner, Reed Sheppard) are going to be really good (at UK).

“But to have a 7-footer with the skill set he has is kind of significant.  That is a little different. That is special.”

  1. Play Bradshaw at the 4 and Onyenso at the 5 and Livingston at the 3 if he is still here next year. That would be one awesome frontcourt. The problem with next year’s team will be having too many hotshot guards and not enough minutes or shots to keep them happy and that’s assuming that Wallace will be OAD.
