The Todd County Central boys’ basketball team picked up a second straight victory on Saturday, holding off visiting Monroe County 49-45.

The Rebels evened their record at 3-3 ahead of a trip to Montgomery Central, TN on Monday.  They were 65-27 winners over the Indians earlier this season in Elkton.

The teams battled back and forth throughout the first quarter, with Monroe County taking the lead late on a three-point play by Austen Arnett.  Jamison Glass capped a ten-point quarter with a bucket inside for the Rebels to tie it at 13-13.

Tray’Von Foster drilled a pair of three-pointers and the Rebels led 24-18 with 2:35 left in the half.  However, Keaton Biggerstaff and John Harlin each knocked down shots from behind the arc to pull the Falcons even at the break.

The Rebels opened the second half with a 14-2 run to lead 38-26 after Foster’s third three-pointer of the night.  But the Falcons answered with two buckets in the paint to trim the margin to six with a quarter to play.

Todd Central led by six after a basket by Preston Rager with four minutes left, but the Falcons closed to 47-45 after one of two free throws by Harlin.

With twenty-three seconds left, Perez Whitlock stepped to the line and knocked down a pair of free throws to ice the Rebels’ third straight win in the series.

Glass finished with 18 to lead all scorers, followed for the Rebels by Foster with 13.
