Bourbon County scored the final six points of the night to rally past Lyon County’s girls 64-62 in overtime on Wednesday.

That kept Lyon from reaching the championship game of Bourbon’s Kelly Holiday Classic in Paris. Instead, the Lady Lyons will play in Thursday’s third-place game, taking on Nicholas County at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.

Lyon (3-7) couldn’t have gotten off to a better start in the semifinal tilt. The Lady Lyons opened the game with an 18-4 run.

However, Bourbon (6-6) put together a strong second quarter to cut the gap to 30-28 at the break.

The teams battled back-and-forth late in the contest. Lyon led 47-42 midway through the fourth quarter, but Bourbon countered with a 10-0 run to take its biggest lead at 52-47 with just 1:45 left in regulation.

However, a 3-pointer by Lilly Perry with 20 seconds to play tied the game and set up overtime at 54-54.

Lyon got off to another good start in the extra session and held a 62-58 advantage with 45 seconds remaining.

But the Lady Colonels got a 3 from Zaida Villanueva to cut the gap to one. A quick steal by Bourbon resulted in two free throws for Laiken Hardin. She drained both to give the Lady Colonels the lead at 63-62.

Bourbon added another free throw late to make it a two-point game, which was good enough for the win when Lyon came up empty at the other end in the closing seconds.

Piper Cotham led Lyon with 15 points while Trinity Taylor had 14. Ella Defew had 11.

Hardin led Bourbon with 25. Villanueva added 20.
