Bravettes’ Long-Range Accuracy Does in Trigg County

The Union County Bravettes hit ten 3-pointers and cruised to a 68-37 win over Trigg County Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Class 2A sectionals in Morganfield.

Union used a 14-2 run to end the first quarter and move out to a 21-7 lead. The Lady Wildcats made just one field goal in the final five minutes of the quarter and turned the basketball over seven times in the first eight minutes.

Trigg County got as close as 12 points early in the second quarter, but Union County hit four straight 3-pointers to open the frame to keep the Lady Wildcats at bay.

Lillian Goodloe hit 5-of-7 triples and finished with a game-high 19 points. Reese Hagan added four 3-pointers and scored 12 points for Union County and Madison Morris added 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Audrey Alexander scored 15 points and Kara Hyde added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Wildcats. Olivia Noffsinger was held to three points but pulled down six rebounds and handed out five assists.

The game for Trigg County was its first against former coach Cory Coble, who took the Union County job in the offseason. The Lady Wildcats fell to 5-13 all-time against Union. They haven’t beaten Union County on their home floor since 1992.

The Bravettes move on in the 2A Sectionals to play Calloway County Friday at Webster County.

Trigg County will host Kenwood, Tenn. Monday at Wildcat Gym.
