Hoptown Lady Tigers Drop Close One at McLean County

After opening the season with nine straight losses, the McLean County Lady Cougars are starting to get things going in their direction. In a game that was close from beginning to end the Lady Cougars were able to pull out a close one Friday night, turning back the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers 49-48 in Calhoun.

With four different players finding the scoring column, the Lady Tigers had the lead after the opening quarter 11-10. With Kahtavia Fleming and Shiyah Forte combining to score 11 points in the second quarter, Hoptown would inch the lead out to 24-20 at the half.

The Lady Cougars again limited the Lady Tigers to just 11 points in the third quarter as they trimmed the lead to 35-32 heading into the final eight minutes.

McLean County got a big final quarter from Kenadi Level as the Lady Cougars were able to pull out the one-point win.

Kahtavia Fleming was the leading scorer for the Lady Tigers with 15 points. MaKaya Payton also reached double figures with 13.

Kenadi Level was the only McLean County player to reach double figures with 14. Breanna Frailley added eight.

Hopkinsville drops to 2-6 with the loss. The Lady Tigers are back in action Saturday afternoon at Madisonville.
