Hoptown Wrestlers Take 8th at Tilghman Invite

The Hopkinsville High School wrestling team finished in eighth place Saturday at the Steve Johnston Memorial Wrestling Invitational hosted by Paducah Tilghman.

The Tigers had three top-five finishes on the afternoon.

Xavion Wallace was runner-up in the 157-pound class. His only two losses of the day came against Paducah Tilghman’s Amari Williams, the 16th-ranked wrestler in the state for the weight class.

Jaylin Littleton finished in third place in the 150-pound class. He defeated Grayson Sanders of Marion, Ill. by a 16-0 decision in the third-place match.

Juan Cannon came in fourth place in the 113-pound class. Cannon lost to Fairdale’s Blake Luttrell, the sixth-ranked wrestler in the state, by a 7-4 decision in the semifinals.

Mekhi Manning-Lewis finished in sixth place in the 132-pound class.

Tewon Thomas finished eighth in the 138-pound class.

Hopkinsville totaled 61.5 points to finish 9.5 points behind seventh-place Calloway County.
