Storm Reigns in 7th District Tilt at Caldwell 67-51

A strong second quarter helped Hopkins County Central pick up a 7th District win at Caldwell County on Thursday.

The Storm outscored the Tigers 23-9 in the second period to turn a 22-18 lead after 8 minutes into a 45-27 margin at halftime.

The Storm went on to post a 67-51 victory in head coach Michael Fraliex’s return to his alma mater.

Trevahn Jones had 24 points to power Hopkins Central. Trevor Weldon added 12 points as the Storm ended a four-game skid.

Hopkins Central also got 11 points from Davonyae Butcher and 10 from Drake Skeen.

Caldwell got 19 points from Carter Whittington. JayDarius Wilson added nine for the Tigers, who have now dropped four straight.

Hopkins Central is 8-9 overall and 2-1 in district play.

The Tigers are 3-12 overall and 0-2 in 7th District action.

Caldwell has another district date on Friday, visiting Dawson Springs.

Hopkins Central plays again on Saturday when it hosts Whitesville Trinity.
