Fleming’s Triple-Double Spurs Hoptown Past Lady Wildcats

Hopkinsville High welcomed back its leading scorer Tuesday, but it was Kahtahvia Fleming who stole the show with a triple-double as the Lady Tigers posted a 55-41 road win over Trigg County.

The Lady Tiger junior scored 19 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and picked up 10 steals as Hoptown rallied from a nine-point first half deficit.

With Trigg County holding an 18-9 lead, Fleming scored 11 points in a 15-1 Hoptown run to end the first half. She had 13 points and eight rebounds by halftime.

She keyed the Lady Tiger press with nine steals in the second half to complete the triple-double.

Fleming has been a consistent cog for a Hopkinsville team that has used a litany if lineups due to injuries and other absences throughout the season.

Hoptown welcomed back leading scorer and rebounder Shiyah Forte who had missed three games with an injury. She entered the game with her team down nine and helped spur Hoptown’s run along with Fleming. Forte finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Trigg County twice cut the Hoptown lead to three points in the fourth quarter. Evonna Mcgee hit a pair of free throws with 3:55 left to draw the Lady Wildcats to within 41-38. However, Trigg turned the basketball over on its next four possessions while Hoptown pushed its lead back to 47-38 with 1:44 left.

Trigg committed a season-high 30 turnovers that led to 25 Hoptown points. The Lady Tigers also commanded the glass, outrebounding Trigg 42-20 and limiting the Lady Wildcats to four offensive rebounds.

The win was Hopkinsville’s 14th straight over Trigg County dating back 20 years. Hoptown leads the all-time series 34-8.

Audrey Alexander led Trigg County with 11 points, while Olivia Noffsinger scored 10 points and handed out four assists. Evonna McGee chipped in with a season-high 10 points.

Hopkinsville will play at Grayson County (9-11) Saturday afternoon.

Trigg County will host Webster County (5-15) Friday.

Trigg County also announced its January 13 game at Dawson Springs, which was postponed because of the All A Classic region tournament, will be played on February 11 at 1 pm.
