Heritage Christian Advances at KCAC State Tournament

Heritage Christian Academy opened defense of its Kentucky Christian Athletic Conference title with a 57-48 win over Oneida Baptist Institute Friday night in Frankfort.

Carlos Robles and Jason Leek combined for 40 points as HCA gradually pulled away throughout the contest. The duo combined for all 11 of HCA’s first quarter points. They also had a big third quarter scoring 14 of the Warriors’ 18 points.

Heritage Christian shot 49% from the field while holding ONI to 35%. Heritage did its damage in the paint, outscoring the Mountaineers there 40-22.

Robles scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Leek added 17 points and three steals.

Heritage Christian will play Community Christian Academy of Paducah (10-11) in Saturday’s semifinals. CCA beat Portland Christian 72-68.

In the other quarterfinals, Heritage Academy of northern Kentucky beat Frankfort Christian 88-74 and Highlands Latin beat Christian Fellowship 79-58.
