Playing some of their best basketball despite a shortened bench, the Hopkinsville girls’ basketball team rode a three-game win streak into a matchup at Grayson County on Saturday. However, the Lady Tigers were turned away 66-56 for the Lady Cougars’ sixth win in their last seven outings,
The teams couldn’t be separated in the first half,, with a 35-35 tie at the break. Kahtahvia Fleming accounted for 21 of the Lady Tigers’ points, including a pair of three-pointers.
Sydney Perkins scored 12 in the second quarter for the Lady Cougars, and Ayrssa Riggs added eight.
Isabell Blanton and Ella Narvaev combined for 12 third-quarter points, and Grayson County led by a point with eight minutes to play.
Ta’Ria Sharber provided the only offense for the Lady Tigers in the fourth, and they were outscored 15-6 for the final margin.
Fleming finished with a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds. Sharber had a double-double for the Lady Tigers with 11 points and ten boards.
Perkins led the Lady Cougars with 19 points, followed by Blanton with 13, and Narvaez with 12.
Hopkinsville will travel to University Heights on Wednesday looking to even its district record at 2-2.
