Caldwell’s Girls Rally for 61-56 Win at Dawson

Two months ago, Caldwell County’s girls routed Dawson Springs 73-29 in Princeton.

Things weren’t quite as easy when the two teams met Thursday night at Dawson Springs.

The Lady Panthers (7-15 overall, 0-6 7th District) led 33-29 at halftime and took a 46-42 advantage to the fourth quarter.

But the Lady Tigers (6-14, 2-2) got out of town with a win, outscoring Dawson 19-10 in the final frame to pull out a 61-56 triumph.

Tink Clark had four 3-pointers – including a pair of 3s and eight of her team-high 19 points in the fourth period – to help spearhead Caldwell’s rally in the rematch.

Med Thomas had four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. A.J. Hollowell also buried a shot from behind the arc in the last quarter and finished with 10 points. KeDarriah Thompson also had 10 points in the win.

Dawson Springs got 21 points from Abby Ward and another 12 from Gracie Harper.

The Lady Tigers extended their win streak against Dawson to 11 straight. Caldwell has taken 26 of the last 27 meetings. The Lady Tigers hold an 88-10 advantage in the all-time series.

Caldwell’s girls will play again Friday night as part of a girls and boys varsity doubleheader at district foe Madisonville-North Hopkins.

The Lady Panthers next pay a visit to Whitesville Trinity on Saturday night.
