After knocking off Logan County by 22 points just over two weeks ago, the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team may have expected a relatively easy night when the Cougars visited Elkton on Friday.

However, after building a double-digit lead, the Rebels had to hold off Logan County’s second-half rally to prevail 58-54 in overtime.

Colby Collins knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the first quarter for the Cougars, but the Rebels got five points from Jamison Glass and held a three-point advantage.

Hayden Strader connected on a couple of threes to fuel the Rebel attack in the second quarter, and they were in front 29-19 at the halftime break.

Logan County climbed back into the game behind 11 third-quarter points from Kade Wall.  Trayvon Foster drilled two from behind the arc for the Rebels, but their lead was down to three with a quarter to play.

Todd Central managed only eight points in the fourth, including only two makes in five attempts from the free-throw line.  Glass scored all but one of the Rebels’ points, and they headed to overtime for the third time this season and second in their last four games.

Despite again struggling at the free-throw line, the Rebels got four of Glass’ game-high 19 points to secure the victory.  Todd Central finished 9/18 from the charity stripe, including four of nine in the extra frame.

Foster scored 13 for the Rebels, and Strader also reached double figures with four three-pointers.

For Logan, Wall finished with 18, and Collins scored 15.

Todd Central snapped a two-game skid to improve to 14-10, 2-2 in 13th-District play.  Logan slipped to 7-16 and remained winless against district competition.
