Maroons Handle Caldwell Again to Remain Unbeaten in District

A 21-0 run early in the game helped Madisonville-North Hopkins remain unbeaten in 7th District action this season.

The Maroons never trailed while beating Caldwell County for the second time in eight days, knocking off the Tigers 77-33 Friday on Homecoming night at Madisonville.

Javion Martin had 20 points to lead the Maroons, who are now 17-7 overall and 5-0 in district play.
Madisonville’s big run early turned a 3-2 lead into a 24-2 advantage.

The margin was 27-7 after one quarter. The Maroons led 38-17 at halftime.

Madisonville reached the35-point mercy rule for a running clock with just over 2 minutes left in the third period. The Maroons took a 67-25 advantage to the final stanza.

Caldwell (4-15, 1-4) got 12 points from Carter Whittington.

Madisonville now owns 16 straight wins against the Tigers. The Maroons lead the all-time series 90-11.

Madisonville won in Princeton last Friday 86-35.

Things don’t figure to get much easier for Caldwell when it visits Lyon County on Saturday. The Tigers then have a makeup date at Hopkins County Central on Monday before visiting Trigg County on Tuesday. All of those dates are girls and boys doubleheaders.

Madisonville also plays Lyon County in its next game. That date is set for Tuesday night in Eddyville.
