Christian County’s Mitchell Havens will have to play the waiting game for state for the second straight year after a third-place finish at Saturday’s Region I Championship at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center in Hopkinsville.
Havens came in third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.23. The top two finishers at the region and the next 16 fastest times statewide advance to state.
He was also sixth place in the 100-yard freestyle in 59.26.
Fernando Montes finished 10th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.00 and 10th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:08.63.
Peyton Epley finished in 13th place in the 50-yard freestyle in 31.91 and 14th in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:14.75.
Kolton Parker placed 16th in the 50-yard freestyle in 41.52.
The 200-yard free relay team of Kolton Parker, Peyton Epley, Fernando Montes, and Mitchell Havens finished in seventh place in 2:10.02.
As a team, Christian County finished in seventh place with 99 points.
