Defense was the story of the night Saturday for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors. HCA gave up only five field goals for the entire game as the Lady Warriors rolled past Bethel 47-17.

The Lady Warrior defense was cooking right from the start. Heritage allowed Bethel just two free throws in the opening quarter. The good news for Bethel was that the Lady Warriors also struggled to find the basket early and led just 5-2 after the first eight minutes of the contest.

Led by Bailey Craft, HCA got its offense moving a bit in the second quarter. Craft scored 7 points in the quarter as the Lady Warriors extended the lead to 18-9 at the break.

While the Heritage offense continued to try and find its footing as the second half got underway, the defense did its job in limiting the scoring opportunities for Bethel. The third ended with Heritage leading 28-14.

The Lady Warrior defense closed out the game strong just as it had begun the contest. HCA allowed Bethel just a made three-pointer in the final eight minutes as the Lady Warriors closed out with a big final quarter. Kate St. Martin had 11 in the quarter, including three made three-pointers.

For the night, St. Martin led HCA with 17 points. Bailey Craft added 16.

Bethel was paced by Erica Hatfield with 16 points.
