The matchups are set for the 5th District Tournament that begins February 20 at Livingston Central High School.
Seeding for the girls’ tournament had to be decided by a coin toss. Defending champion Crittenden County wrapped up the top seed with a 6-0 regular season mark.
Trigg County, Livingston Central, and Lyon County each tied for second place with 2-4 district records and a 1-1 mark against each other.
Livingston Central got the two seed after a three-way coin toss held Wednesday night saw them get the odd result. Trigg County got the three seed when Lyon County lost the coin toss between the two.
Crittenden County will play Lyon County on Monday, February 20 at 6 pm. Crittenden beat Lyon 58-54 in last year’s district title game. They swept the season series this season by scores of 63-40 and 67-50.
Host Livingston Central will play Trigg County in the 7:30 nightcap. The teams split their regular season games with Livingston winning 54-41 in December in Smithland. The Lady Wildcats beat Livingston 37-35 Monday in Cadiz.
The girls’ championship will be played on Thursday, February 23 at 6 pm.
On the boys’ side, the first-round pairings are identical for a fourth straight season. Lyon County is the top seed and three-time defending champion. The Lyons have won 26 straight games against district opponents dating back to 2000.
Lyon County will play four-seed Livingston Central on Tuesday, February 21 at 6 pm. The Lyons have won 13 straight games against Livingston, including two this season by scores of 87-40 and 94-51.
The 7:30 game that night has two-seed Crittenden County playing three-seed Trigg County. Two of their last three district tourney matchups have been decided by last-second shots. Crittenden swept the season series from Trigg by scores of 69-67 and 67-55.
The boys’ championship will be played on Friday, February 24 at 6 pm.
Tickets are $8 for everyone and will be available through the Ticket Leap app. Doors will open at 5 pm each night.
