A pair of big runs Friday night helped the Caldwell County Lady Tigers continue their winning ways over Fort Campbell.

After the visiting Lady Falcons had crept within 24-15 early in the second quarter, Caldwell reeled off 15 straight points on the way to a 39-19 halftime lead.

The Lady Tigers (7-18) then opened the second half with 23 points in a row — including a 17-0 spree in the entire third period — to finish off a 62-21 victory at the CAB gym in Princeton.

Fort Campbell (2-15) was limited to just two free throws in the second half, and those came midway through the fourth quarter.

A.J. Hollowell had 19 points to lead Caldwell, which never trailed after scoring the first seven points of the game.

That was part of a 16-2 run to start the night.

A four-point play by Hollowell made it 24-4 late in the first quarter.

Fort Campbell countered with its best stretch of the game, scoring 11 straight to cut the gap to nine.

But that’s as close as the Lady Falcons could get.

Fort Campbell was 7 of 15 from the field in the first half, but missed all of its 14 attempts after the break.

Caldwell finished the game 27 of 63 on field goal tries.

Med Thomas added 10 points for the Lady Tigers. Nyla Sykes and Presley McKinney each had eight points.

Fort Campbell got 13 points from Charlize Cruz. Trinity Scott had 10 rebounds to go with four points.

Caldwell has won its last eight matchups with Fort Campbell and 21 of the last 22 going back to 1989. The Lady Falcons picked up a win in February of 2012. The Lady Tigers hold a 31-5 advantage all-time.

Caldwell’s girls will host 3rd Region school Ohio County Saturday at 1 p.m.

Fort Campbell hosts Murray from the 1st Region Saturday at 6 p.m.
