The Christian County girls’ basketball team finished off a perfect 6-0 8th-District run with a 69-16 victory over hosts Fort Campbell on Thursday. The Lady Colonels will be the top seed in the district tournament after finishing runners-up to Hopkinsville last season.
Christian County jumped out to a 10-0 lead, including a pair of three-pointers by Anaysia Bagwell. NeVaeh Day added six points, and the Lady Colonels led 19-4 after the first quarter.
Day doubled her total in the second frame, outscoring the Lady Falcons by a basket to help Christian County to a 41-8 advantage at the halftime break.
Bagwell opened the second half with a layup to trigger the running clock. She and Day each finished with a game-high 12 points. Lazarie Daniel and Carliah Hobson both collected six rebounds, and D’Ebony Anderson scored eight points and pulled down five boards.
The Lady Colonels shot 33 of 71 from the floor, two of 12 from behind the arc, and won the rebounding battle 43-20.
Christian County improved to 11-13 with trips to Trigg County and Warren Central to close out the regular season.
Fort Campbell will be busy with six games over the remaining week of the regular season, beginning with a trip to Caldwell County on Friday.
