Union County Runs Region Title String to 20 (w/PHOTOS)

Union County won the regional wrestling championship for an unprecedented 20th straight time on Saturday.

The Braves had seven individual champions in the Region 1 tournament at Christian County and finished with 323.5 points.

Paducah Tilghman was runner-up with 256.5 points while Christian County took third with 200.

McCracken County totaled 143.5 points to place fourth while Caldwell County was fifth with 127. Fort Campbell was sixth with 103 points.

Henderson County took seventh with 90.5 points while Daviess County was eighth with 85. Apollo and Calloway County rounded out the Top 10 with 74.5 and 39.5 points, respectively.

Hopkinsville was 11th with 33.5, Owensboro Catholic 12th with 33, Owensboro 13th with 24 and Trigg County 14th with 18.

Here are the top four in each class, who advance to State First Round action this Saturday at Louisville Atherton.

At 106 pounds, Jake Ramsey of Apollo placed first, with Ashton Smith of Christian County second, Breylen Clifford of Union County third and Justin Kildzejs of Caldwell County fourth.
At 113 pounds, Utah Head of Union County captured first, JaRi Campbell of Christian County second, Andre Carter of Caldwell County third and Juan Cannon of Hopkinsville.
At 120, Jayden Raney of Union County took first, Logan Brown of Caldwell County was second, Kevondre Young of Christian County took third and Jacob Jones Hamilton of Calloway County was fourth.
At 126, Jordyn Raney of Union County was first, Jayven Williams of Paducah Tilghman second, Collin Teutsch of Caldwell County third and Holden Schneider of Christian County fourth.
At 132, Hunter Jenkins of Union County was first, Cofy Walls of Caldwell County second, Kaleb Nenoff of Christian County third and Logan Kissiar of McCracken County fourth.

At 144, Caleb Mays of Paducah Tilghman took first, Glenn Mayes of Union County second, Timothy Nichols of Caldwell County third and Hunter Hawthorne of McCracken County fourth.
At 150 pounds, Malachi Rider of Paducah Tilghman was first, Deameion Leavell of Christian County took second, Abreyan Fletcher of Union County was third and Dana Bishop of Apollo placed fourth.
At 157, Lucas Ricketts of Union County was first, Amari Williams of Paducah Tilghman second, Bryce McTaggart of McCracken County third and Zach Eads of Christian County fourth.
At 165, D.J. Wilson of Paducah Tilghman took first, with Jermaine Poynter Jr. of Henderson County second, Keshawn Dixon of Fort Campbell third and Jake Dowdy of Union County fourth.
At 175 pounds, Gavin Ricketts of Union County was first, Jack James of Paducah Tilghman second, Isaiah Harris of McCracken County third and T.J. Dixon of Fort Campbell fourth.
At 190 pounds, Uriah Virzi took first, with Kshaun Brown of Union County second, Omarion Wimberly of Christian County third and Tavious Walker of Apollo fourth.
At 215, J.T. Adams of Paducah Tilghman took first, Hunter Pogue of Union County was second, Gillam Nicodemus of Daviess County third and Cole Sherill of Caldwell County fourth.
At 285, Jimmy Mooney of Paducah Tilghman was first, Frankie Nutt of McCracken County second, Koyln Cruz of Daviess County third and Andrew Hendricks of Trigg County fourth.
