Falcon Wrestlers Pick Up Wins at State First Round

Fort Campbell sent four wrestlers to the KHSAA State First Round Saturday at J.M. Atherton High School in Louisville with two picking up wins.

John Montalvo competed in the 138-pound class, entering the day as the No. 27 ranked wrestler in the state by KentuckyWresting.com.

He opened with a loss to Woodford County’s Isaac Johns, the No. 3 ranked wrestler in the state. Montalvo bounced back to defeat Bethlehem’s Max Brewer with an 11-0 major decision.

Montalvo’s day ended with a loss to Larue County’s Charlee Greenwell (No. 26) in the consolation round.

Keshawn Dixon also picked up a win in the 165-pound class. Dixon, ranked No. 27, opened with a loss to Maurice Green of John Hardin in his opener but bounced back to defeat No. 22 Jostyn Cardenas of Southern by fall.

Dixon took No. 13 Jake Dowdy of Union County to the second round before a loss ended his day.

T.J. Dixon went 0-2 in the 175-pound class and Jeffery Perry advanced to the tourney as an alternate and went 0-2 in the 113-pound class.
