Brooklyn Clark topped 2,000 career points as top-seeded Hopkins County Central moved into the 7th District championship game with a 65-40 win over Dawson Springs Monday night.

The senior guard finished with a game-high 24 points to push her career total to 2,011 — accomplished at three different schools. Clark started at Dawson Springs, then spent one year at Webster County before moving on to Hopkins Central.

A free throw with 1:05 left in the first half allowed Clark to hit the milestone.

Dawson Springs (7-21) tried to mount a challenge early, and trailed just 13-8 after one period.

But host Hopkins Central (22-8) used a 22-10 advantage in the second period to get to halftime with a 35-18 lead.

The margin grew to 56-27 through three quarters as the Lady Storm beat the Lady Panthers for the 11th straight time and the 24th time in the last 25 meetings.

Lillie Whitaker-Greer added 12 points for Hopkins Central while Mercy Sutton had 11.

Senior Abby Ward led Dawson Springs with 17 points.

Hopkins Central will face Madisonville-North Hopkins (19-10) in Thursday’s 6 p.m. championship game in Mortons Gap. Both teams have already earned berths in the 2nd Region tournament next week at Union County.
