It’s been four seasons since the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team lifted the 13th-District trophy, but with the Rebels entering the postseason as winners of four of their last five games, the timing may be right for a run at the title.

After finishing runners-up last season to Franklin-Simpson, the 2nd-seeded Rebels open the postseason on Tuesday against Russellville in Elkton.  Todd Central took both regular-season meetings with the Panthers, by three in overtime on the road and cruising to a 12-point win at home on February 10.

Junior Jamison Glass leads the Rebels in points and rebounds with averages of 18 and nine.  Fellow junior, Trayvon Foster, has enjoyed a break out season, scoring a shade under 13 points per game and knocking down 44 three-pointers.  Foster went for 23 in the overtime win at Russellville.

Senior Preston Rager is third on the team with almost 12 points per outing and paced the Rebels in the regular season with 56 made three-pointers.  He knocked down 11 triples on the way to 21 points in the home win over the Panthers.

For Russellville, three players average double-figure points, led by Eli McMurry with just under 11.  He also tops the team with 34 three-point makes.  Nick Woodard and Octavious McKeage each average ten points per contest, and McKeage leads the team in rebounding at six per game.

Top-seeded Franklin-Simpson awaits in Friday’s championship game after topping Logan County 56-40 on Monday.  The defending champion Wildcats swept the season series with the Rebels, winning by a point at home and by 12 in Elkton.

Jalen Briscoe leads the 17-9 Wildcats with 17 points and seven rebounds per game.  DeMarcus Hogan is next with 15 points per outing and a team-high 43 three-point makes at a 34% clip.  Gabe Jones chips in ten points per game and connected on 42 threes during the regular season.
