Travis Perry has set several milestones during his junior season, most recently scoring a school-record 61 points in a single game. On Monday, the Lyon County guard shared one with his father.

Perry scored 31 points, including his 1,000th point this season, to push the Lyons to a 95-53 win over Livingston Central in the 5th District semifinals at Livingston Central High School. The win was the 100th for his father and coach Ryan Perry at Lyon County.

Any drama in this game was dispensed early as Lyon scored the game’s first seven points and led 16-3 in the first two minutes.

Perry had 14 points and five steals in the opening quarter with Lyon County jumping out to a 35-13 lead on 15-of-25 shooting from the field.

Lyon’s full-court pressure continually forced Livingston turnovers with Perry either the beneficiary with runout layups or Perry himself leading the break with an assist to a teammate.

Bray Kirk added 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting and Brady Shoulders added 20 points and 10 rebounds with seven assists.

The Lyons led 59-24 at halftime and triggered a running clock for the second half.

Perry scored his 29th point on a layup in the third quarter that gave him 1,000 points for the season. The last players in the state to accomplish the feat were Zion Harmon (Adair County) and Dontaie Allen (Pendleton County) in 2018. The only other player in the 2nd Region to score 1,000 points in a single season was Madisonville’s Travis Ford in 1989.

Perry’s final stat line was 31 points, 10 assists, and seven steals.

Lyon County scored 42 points off 25 Livingston turnovers and outscored the Cardinals 74-30 in the paint.

Will Orr led Livingston Central with 16 points as ten Cardinals scored in the contest. Livingston shot 48-percent from the field but got up 33 fewer shots.

Lyon County moves into Friday’s championship game against Trigg County, a 57-49 winner over Crittenden County in the other semifinal. The Lyons will be looking to become the first school in the 5th District to win five straight district titles.
