Kentucky basketball honored five seniors on Wednesday night before their last home game of the season.
Antonio Reeves, Brennan Canada, CJ Fredrick, Jacob Toppin and Oscar Tshiebwe were honored and made up Kentucky’s starting five. Kentucky’s sixth senior, Sahvir Wheeler, had a minor procedure earlier this week and was recovering – therefore unable to attend the ceremony.
The Wildcats hosted the Vanderbilt Commodores and lost in heartbreaking fashion, 68-66, following a go-ahead jumper by Vanderbilt’s Jordan Wright.
Kentucky’s loss was critical for their seeding in next week’s SEC Tournament, with their chance of clinching the No. 3 seed now in jeopardy. They’ll head to Arkansas on Saturday in a must-win situation if they hope to earn a double-bye for next week. Saturday’s tip-off at Arkansas is scheduled for 2 PM ET.
