Mackenzie Cooper and Trevor Hoy Lead Trigg Archers at Regional

Trigg County will send three archers to the KHSAA State Archery Tournament next month following the region competition over the weekend.

Trigg’s girls’ finished in fifth place as a team, while the guys finished in seventh place.

The girls shot a team score of 1934. Graves County won the regional with a score of 1952. Calloway County was one point back in second place. Madisonville-North Hopkins tied with Calloway but lost out on a tie-breaker and finished third.

Mackenzie Cooper was the Lady Wildcats’ best performer of the day. Cooper shot a 286, which was good enough to put her in 4th place. Rivver Knott was not far behind with a 286, which was good enough for a 7th-place finish. Both Cooper and Knott will advance to state.

Jeri Beth Oliver finished the day with a score of 282 and a 5th-place finish. Briana Hall had a score of 276 and finished in 26th place.

In the boys’ competition, the Wildcats finished the day with a score of 1883. Graves County won the regional with a 1969. Calloway County was second with a 1949 and Madisonville-North Hopkins took third place with a 1945.

Trevor Hoy had the best day of any Trigg County archer, finishing with a 291, which put him in 3rd place in the boys’ division. Hoy will advance to the state tournament.

The top two teams and the next three archers not on those two teams advance to the state tourney.

Junior Knott finished with a 279 and took 23rd place. Jaydon Ennis scored a 275 and claimed 27th place. Clayton Litchfield shot a 271 for the meet and finished in 41st place.
