Early Lead Slips Away as Caldwell’s Girls Fall at Marshall

Caldwell County’s girls scored four runs in the top of the first inning at Marshall County on Tuesday.

However, the host Lady Marshals came back to capture a 9-5 win in Draffenville.

A three-run fourth inning pushed Marshall in front 5-4.

The Lady Marshals (2-0) put up four more runs in the fifth inning to take control of the contest.

Each side had 10 base hits, but the Lady Tigers could not overcome seven errors.

Adley Lewis had a two run home run in the first inning for Caldwell (1-1) while Harper Holeman and Alicia Stanley each had RBI doubles.

Lewis, Brylee Butts and A.J. Hollowell each went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Tigers.

Chevelle Henson was 2-for-3 for Marshall while Anna Vasseur, Merriel Jackson and Macy McLeod each went 2-for-4.

Allicen Harris tossed the final four innings for Marshall and was the winning pitcher. She allowed just one unearned run on two base hits while striking out six and walking two.

Caldwell starter Alexis Wood went five innings and suffered the setback. She allowed five earned runs on 10 hits while fanning six and walking two.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play again on Thursday at Trigg County.
