It took a while for Alliyah Thomas to realize that a college career in track and cross country would be in her plans. After that realization, now comes the reality.
Thomas signed her letter to attend Spalding University in Louisville Wednesday.
Thomas was the lone senior on the Lady Wildcat cross country team in 2022. She racked up four top-10 finishes during the season and ran a personal best time of 21:56 at the Daviess County Classic.
Thomas finished in eighth place at the region meet and crossed the finish line in 88th place at the Class 2A State Meet.
She is also a key member of Trigg’s middle-distance events on the 2023 track and field team.
Spalding is an NCAA Division III school that competes in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Thomas said she plans to be a therapist and work in the mental health field, a pathway important to her as a high school senior.
