Todd County Central is in the market for a new boys’ basketball head coach after John Stigall stepped down from that position Thursday morning.

Stigall announced his egress on social media.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure as the basketball coach at Todd Central after two incredibly meaningful years. Coaching this team and being a part of this community has been an honor and a privilege, and I will always cherish the memories and experiences that I have gained during my time here. However, I believe that is important for me to take this next step in my career and family.”

Stigall guided the Rebels to a 19-12 record and a 13th District championship this season. A tough draw in the 4th Region tournament saw Todd fall to Bowling Green in the opening round.

The previous year the Rebels went 23-9 and captured the 4th Region All A Classic title. Todd won its opening round game over West Carter at All A state before falling to Evangel Christian in the second round. But the Rebels fell just short against Franklin-Simpson in the district final that season before bowing nto Warren Central in the first round at the regional tourney.

“I am incredibly proud of the progress that we have made as a team over the past two years, and I am confident that the players will continue to excel both on and off the court,” Stigall added.

Stigall took over the Todd County Central program after spending 17 years as a boys’ basketball head coach in Tennessee.

He has a career coaching mark of 338-209.
