Todd County Central seniors Jacob Brandon and Jase Hampton combined to hold hosts Northeast, TN hitless on Friday and earn the Rebels’ second straight shutout victory to start the season.

The 4-0 result gives the Rebels’ a 2-0 start for the third year in a row, and they will look to extend their perfect start when they face Hopkinsville in Elkton on Monday and away on Tuesday.

The Rebels posted a pair of runs in back-to-back innings, taking advantage of three errors and a dropped third strike to push two across in the second.

With two on and two out in the third, Devin Schutt came through with a two-run single to double the advantage and cap the game’s scoring.

But the story for the Rebels was the performance on the mound.  Jacob Brandon earned the win with five innings of work, surrendering no hits with four walks and five strikeouts.

Hampton pitched the final two frames, preserving the no-hitter and striking out four with no walks.  Through ten innings this season, five by Hampton, the Rebels haven’t allowed a hit.

Hampton and Brandon each finished with two hits, Grady Reding had an RBI, and Schutt drove in two.

Jackson Meece took the loss for Northeast, surrendering four runs, two earned, on five hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts.
