Christian County’s Elijah Underhill went deep for the first time this season and Gage Montes drove in four runs to lead the Colonels to a 24-2 win over hosts Fort Campbell on Monday.

Christian County ended a three-game slide and evened its record at 3-3, while the Falcons slipped to 0-4.

Underhill set the tone with a lead-off home run, blasting a 3-1 offering from Fort Campbell’s Darin Frederick over the left field fence.

The Colonels took advantage of 17 walks, and after posting three runs in the 1st, they scored five in each of their next two at-bats.  A ten-run 5th ended the game, highlighted by RBI doubles from Aiden Lewis and Brylle Javier.

Preston Phan earned the win on the mound, striking out four in two scoreless innings.  Blake Boehman allowed a single run with six walks and five strikeouts in two frames, and Andrew Fincham gave up a run and a hit in an inning of work.

Montes finished four for five at the plate, and five other Colonels had a hit.  Lewis drove in three runs, and Boehman and Hayden Hunt each had two RBI.

Fredrick took the loss for the Falcons, lasting an inning and surrendering eight runs, seven earned, on two hits with five walks and a strikeout.

Up next, the Colonels travel to Union County on Tuesday to face the 2-1 Braves while Fort Campbell welcomes 2-2 Trigg County to post.
