While most everything else in the area was washed out last night, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers were able to get in a trip south of the border to take on Clarksville Northeast. Northeast scored in every at-bat in the game and took an 8-2 win in five innings on a cool and damp afternoon.

The Lady Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning when Taylor Joachim left the yard with a home run to left field, putting Hoptown up 1-0.

Northeast came back in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own to take the lead back for good. They then extended the lead in the bottom of the second. After loading the bases with no outs, Northeast used a sac fly and two walks to plate three runs and go up 5-1.

Northeast added single runs in the bottom of the third and the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-1.

Hopkinsville used a Northeast error to score a run in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 7-2. But, Northeast got the run back in the bottom of the inning and that was where the game ended.

Taylor Joachim was 1-3 with the home run. Jakayla Grubbs finished 1-3 with a run scored.

In the circle, Shaniyah Straight went five innings, giving up eight runs with just six of them earned, striking out one and walking six.

Hopkinsville (1-4) is next set to hit the road Thursday when they take on the Trigg County Lady Wildcats.
