In their opening game of the day, Christian County saw the Kennett Indians score seven straight runs over three innings to come back and take an 8-3 win over the Colonels. Kennett pounded out 13 hits in the win.

The Colonels took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Hayden Hunt scored on a passed ball and then Jacob Jenkins drove in Jonathan Lewis on a sac fly.

Over their next three at-bats, the Indians scored seven runs on ten hits and took advantage of control issues from Colonel pitching. Kennett scored one in the third, two in the fourth, and four more in the fifth to take an 8-2 lead.

The Colonels took advantage of back-to-back errors by the Indians to score a run in the bottom of the sixth, but that would be the end of the rally.

Brylle Javier finished 2-2. Elijah Underhill was 1-4 with a triple. Christian County finished the game with five hits.

On the mound, Aiden Lewis was tagged with the loss. He went 4 2/3-innings and was charged with seven earned runs. He struck out three and walked four.

The second game of the day saw the Colonel bats limited to just two hits by a pair of O’Fallon pitchers as the Panthers picked up a 3-0 win over Christian County.

O’Fallon starter David Barker held the Colonels hitless until Preston Phan opened the bottom of the 5th inning with a double. Barker then sat down the next three Christian County batters to get out of the inning.

Jack Velino went the final two innings in relief for the Panthers, giving up just a one-out single to Gage Montes in the top of the 7th inning.

O’Fallon scored one run in the first, one in the fourth, and one more in the top of the seventh.

Gage Montes went the distance for Christian County, giving up three runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one.

The Colonels have now dropped five of their last six and stand at 3-5 on the year.
