After starting the season on a three-game winning streak, the Christian County High School softball team fell for the third straight time Thursday with a 12-0 loss at the hands of host Henderson County.

The northern Colonels continued to use the long ball to jumpstart its offense in the victory, as three different Henderson players homered to give HCHS a six-inning win. Senior Kendal Hargrove tripled and hit her third homer of the season to lead the way. She was joined by Anna Kemp and Hallie McCracken, giving the Colonels 13 HRs as a team in 2023.

Kemp, who finished 2-for-3 with a double and the aforementioned home run, also dazzled in the circle. She gave up just one hit in the complete-game shutout while walking none and fanning 11. Anna Willett also had a big night, going 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.

For Christian County, it was the first time they’ve been blanked in six games. Lead-off hitter Avery Adcock had the Colonels’ lone hit — a two-out single in the top of the sixth inning. Kemp retired the first nine batters she faced before Adcock reached on an error to start the fourth, but she was eventually stranded at third when Gracie Harned was forced into a groundout to end the frame.

Jordan Turner (1-1) made her second start and earned her first loss of the year. She allowed three walks, five hits, and five runs in 3 1/3 innings. Harned and Haley Patterson did not fare much better in relief, as Henderson County (6-1) pounded 13 hits and drew five walks.

CCHS (3-3) will look to end its slide at 5:30 p.m. on April 3 at Calloway County. The Cols haven’t lost four games in a row during a single season in at least 21 years.
