Caldwell’s Girls Drop 2 to Ranked Teams

Caldwell County’s girls headed to Henderson on Saturday to battle a pair of ranked softball teams.

The Lady Tigers fell to No. 16 Central Hardin 15-5, then lost to No. 4 Henderson County 17-0.

The day started well for Caldwell. A.J. Hollowell doubled and later scored in the top of the first inning in the opener against Central Hardin.

However, the Lady Bruins tied things in the bottom of the second, then put up eight runs in the third to take control.

A six-run fourth helped Central Hardin end the game in five innings on the 10-run mercy rule.

Hollowell finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate, but the Lady Tigers were outhit 18-4.

Caldwell also got two home runs in the contest. Harper Holeman homered leading off the fourth. Brylee Butts added a three-run shot in the fifth.

Central Hardin improved to 7-4.

The Lady Tigers were then blanked by Henderson in three innings.

The Lady Colonels scored five times in the first inning, five more in the second and seven times in the third.

Henderson outhit Caldwell 13-2.

The Lady Tigers got a double from Hollowell and a single from Holeman.

Henderson slugged five home runs in the contest — by Anna Kemp, Kendal Hargrove, JaMaya Byrum, Mackenzie Burczyk and Taylor Troutman.

The Lady Colonels are now 8-1.

Caldwell’s girls are 5-5. They are scheduled to host Madisonville-North Hopkins on Tuesday for a 7th District makeup date.
