In a game of big innings, momentum swings, and long balls on Monday at Fort Campbell, the host Falcons squandered a strong start and faded in the late innings of a 19-11 loss to visiting Northwest, TN.

The Falcons squeezed 11 runs out of only three hits, beginning with Adam Harrington’s RBI single in a four-run 1st.

In the 2nd, Jayden Swann smacked a two-run home run, his first of the over-the-fence variety, to give the Falcons a 5-1 advantage.  However, Northwest battled back to tie the game with four runs in the top of the 3rd, highlighted by John Phillips’ three-run home run.

A two-run error and an RBI by Thomas Roach restored the Falcon lead in the 3rd, and Aiden Blaszkowski come home on an error in the 4th for a 9-5 Fort Campbell lead.

Northwest’s Cade Steiner cleared the bases with a three-run triple, and then stole home to put the Vikings back in front 10-9 in the 5th, before a bases-loaded walk and an error in the bottom of the frame gave the Falcons their last lead of the game.

In the 6th, Bricen Moore even things up once again for Northwest with a solo home run to straight away center field, and it was all Vikings the rest of the way.

An eight-run 7th, fueled by six walks, a hit by pitch, and an error, put the game out of reach.  Roach took the loss for the Falcons, allowing eight runs, two earned, on a single hit with six walks and a strikeout.

Swann started on the mound for Fort Campbell, lasting four and two-thirds and giving up ten earned runs on nine hits with five walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Steiner got the win for Northwest, working two and two-thirds shutout innings in relief with three walks and six strikeouts.

Fort Campbell dropped its fourth-straight to slip to 2-8 overall with a visit from Kenwood, TN scheduled for Thursday.
